Now is the Time to Secure Your Economic Position in Renewable Energy

Renewable energy programs such as offshore wind technology increasingly drive political, environmental, and economic interests. These efforts diversify our clean energy options. This shift can also open doors to job and business opportunities for diverse communities. Offshore wind captures energy from the force of winds at sea and transforms it into electricity that can be used onshore.

Renewable Energy: Offshore Wind

Offshore wind power can create opportunities in a broad cross-section of areas including construction, operations, maintenance, project management, marketing, sales, research and development, and education. Moreover, converting to renewable energy options provides other benefits to our global community. Most importantly, the switch reduces our dependence on fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels are major contributors to environmental pollution. And, environmental pollution disproportionately impacts people of color. According to a recent report from the NAACP, Black and brown Americans are more likely to live in areas with poor air quality. Our neighborhoods unfortunately result in higher rates of respiratory illnesses such as asthma and bronchitis. Additionally, we are also more likely to work in jobs that expose us to hazardous materials.

The Time is Now.

As the world moves toward increasing the use of clean and renewable energy, it is essential that people of color get involved in this transition — particularly in the areas of workforce development and supply chain management as well as the development and implementation of new technologies. Get Ready.

Offshore Wind Map State Possibilities

In September 2022 the Biden-Harris Administration announced its intention to develop new floating offshore wind platforms. They intend to position the United States as a global leader in this area. “In tandem with President Biden’s economic and clean energy agenda, these actions will create good-paying jobs, lower energy costs for families, and strengthen U.S. energy security,” the report said. The administration’s current goal is to support 77,000 jobs, create private investment in supply chain management, and power 10 million homes by 2030. That’s equivalent to powering single-family homes in 28 states across the nation.
