E-Marketing, Mailers, Blogs … How do you know what tools will reach your targeted audience?  Are your key words working? Are your paid search engine campaigns profitable?  Reduce your advertising budget and invest in organic search engine optimization with Impact’s Digital Team.

Once you figure out what to say, say it always and say it often!

When it comes to identifying your copy consider the following:

  1. Before you do anything else focus on the “keywords” that you will use in your website copy and for all of your web needs.  Don’t bite off more than you can chew.  Even the most talented website developer needs help.  Your keywords need to be repeated throughout the messages that you share on your website pages, as well as in the page titles, tags, headlines, descriptions, etc.  In other words, your key word(s) and keyword phrase(s) are the most important words on and in your website.  Spend significant time researching them and making sure that they meet your needs and capture your audience’s attention.  A good place to start – ask customers, friends and family what they would type if they were searching for you.
  2. Make a long list of various ways to describe your business products and or service offerings.  For example, small-business-marketing-strategy is probably more effective than marketing-strategy, and small-business-marketing-strategy-new-jersey is more effective than both if you are targeting business in my home state of New Jersey.  Limit your competition by refining your keywords and keyword phrases.  The fewer number of competitive choices, the more likely that your website will make the cut, or have a higher ranking.  Be as specific as possible and think of various ways that prospects might look for your services.
  3. Use paid or free tools to determine the effectiveness of your choices.  For example, Google Trends will compare the popularity of up to five key words simultaneously at no cost.  It won’t tell you what to choose, but it is a strong indicator of what not to choose.  Try Word Tracker to identify relevant keywords and phrases that are most likely to be used as queries by search engine visitors.  There is a monthly fee for this service once you go past the trial phase – around $60 – but for the serious keyword searchers it may be worth the investment.  Our final recommendation is Word Stream’s free keyword tool.  It indexes keywords and provides you with suggested alternatives, as well as provides suggested groupings and potential niches that you can take advantage of.
