Labor Day 2017: Celebrating Women Business Leaders
The Labor Day holiday weekend is one of the Labor Movement’s many accomplishments on behalf of American workers. At Impact, we’re particularly thankful for the movement’s ongoing campaign to end discrimination and create fairer and more fulfilling workplaces.
While there are still inequities to correct, Labor Day is a good time to reflect on the progress made for and by professional women, who make up roughly half the American workforce. When women are given the opportunity to rise to their full potential, their families, communities and workplaces rise with them. A recent article in the Harvard Business Review found that “going from having no women in corporate leadership to a 30% female share is associated with…a15%increase in profitability for a typical firm.”
Women in business boost diversity of thought and bring perspectives that men alone may overlook. The importance and benefit of having women in C-suite positions can’t be understated. On this Labor Day, the Impact team celebrates the women in our networks and in firms around the world who break glass ceilings and take everyone to the top.
