Before we even embark on a discussion about the implications of the Affordable Care Act, I thought it was important to clarify its name.
Whether you call it Obama Care, Health Care Reform, the Health Care Act or the Affordable Care Act, this law is officially known as the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act – H.R. 3590.
Throughout my writings, I will refer to the law as the Affordable Care Act or ACA. The law was introduced to the 111th Congress on September 19, 2009 by Representative Charles Rangel (D – NY15) and was signed into law by President Obama on March 23, 2010. And, according to the Huffington Post, the House of Representatives has repealed the law 33 times, spending nearly $50 million in the process.
