Alcoa always files its quarterly earnings first. In 1991, former CEO Paul O’Neil, who went on to serve as U.S. Treasury Secretary under George W. Bush, decided Alcoa would report its quarterly earnings first to demonstrate fiscal discipline. It has been company policy ever since.
