Mayor Ras J. Baraka, West Ward Councilman Joseph McCallum and Newark CEDC host their Annual Toys & Coats Holiday Spectacular
NEWARK, N.J. — Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Newark Community Economic Development Corporation (Newark CEDC) President and CEO Otis Rolley and West Ward Councilman Joseph McCallum partnered today to give back to the community during their annual Toys & Coats Holiday Spectacular. More than 750 children were in attendance, all excited to play games, have lunch and get toys.
Local businesses, community leaders and faith-based organizations gathered together to provide the toys, coats, hats, gloves and food donations. Activities included dancing, basketball and taking pictures with Santa. The Mayor raffled off several bicycles to luck winners, while the Newark Shoprite donated over 500 toys and lunch for the nearly 1,000 people in attendance. TD Bank made contributions as did Councilman McCallum and the staff and leadership of the Newark Community EDC. The event was organized and managed by Newark CEDC staffer, Krystle Whitlock under the direction of President & CEO, Otis Rolley.
